CRH (SLOVAKIA), a.s., Turňa nad Bodvou Plant – Remediation of a Cement Silo No. 7

On 6 October 2017, a remediation of a reinforced-concrete cement silo No. 7 of CRH (Slovakia), a.s., Turňa nad Bodvou plant, was successfully completed.

Remediation consisted of the following activities:

• Removal of parts of damaged and degraded concrete on the outer surface of the silo;
• High-pressure cleaning of the outer surface of the silo by water jet;
• Repair of the damaged and exposed reinforcement;
• Filling of cracks;
• Reprofiling of concrete at the exterior surface of the silo;
• Injection-filling of working joints of the silo;
• Equalization of the outer surface of the silo;
• Full-area application of a corrosion inhibitor;
• Painting of the outer surface of the silo.
