MONDI SCP, A.S., RUŽOMBEROK – THE CEREMONY OF HANDING OVER A 204M HIGH CHIMNEY

On 12^th October 2009, the members of the board of VERTICAL a.s. on the occasion of ending the last stage of an overall reconstruction of a +204m high chimney organized a ceremony where a commemorative plaque was handed over to the president of the company Ing. Senecký and members of senior management of MONDI SCP Ružomberok a.s., We have thus handed this chimney over at the full disposal of Regeneration BU.

The overall reconstruction of the chimney was the most challenging project in our history. Not only because of the scope of repairs but mainly because of extremely short time for the operation shutdown. During the seven years, the chimney had been gradually provided with an anticorrosive ventilated steel liner with an inside diameter of 4600 mm made of 254 SMO a 904 L class high strength steel. Our CKV patent technology, which allows fixing a new liner in a short time and in stages, was used to install an all-metal liner casing. Thanks to enormous efforts of our employees, we were able to install about 32 vertical meters of liner a year during the five-day shutdown. We carried out the repair of the outer casing of the chimney in 3 stages only after all the layers on the chimney got dry. The chimney is renovated according to the latest European standards. Thermal and sounding activities fully confirmed the effectiveness and efficiency of the solution with the assumption of many years of trouble-free operation of this civil engineering construction.
